Inspired by a true story. A petty criminal sent to Alcatraz in the 1930s is caught attempting to make an escape. As punishment he is put in solitary confinement. The maximum stay is supposed to be 19 days, but Henri spends years alone, cold and in complete darkness, only to emerge a madman and soon to be a murderer. The story follows a rookie lawyer attempting to prove that Alcatraz was to blame.

Amazon.com: Watch Murder in the First | Prime VideoGreat movie. Not a Kevin bacon fan but he did an excellent job if acting in this movie. I usually hate this type of movie but really enjoyed this. The thing that ruined it for me was the fact that the director tried to pass it off as truth. Other than the setting of Alcatraz and the inmates name, nothing in the movie is based on fact.

The other is as warm as a cedar's dream, all sunlight and furniture polish, brass and tweed. The film is about how a man who lives in one of these worlds might learn to trust a man who lives in the other one. It is a good idea, but the film depends on us believing in the two men, and that isn't easy.
