This first season of Alias is brilliant. Jennifer Garner absolutely rocks in this spy vs spy suspense thriller series. As anyone who follows JJ Abrams, he is a quality director and producer, and I believe that is part of what makes Alias so great. Each episode is like a mini one hour movie and does not feel in anyway low budget or slapped together.
